Autumn Colours

Autumn Colours

We have had a lot of rain during the summer which continued into an even wetter autumn.  I managed to get a late autumn morning which had sunshine and showers, but the light was lovely.  So I thought I’d wander out with my camera to catch the autumn colours.  When I was out, I was aware that I probably haven’t captured that many photos of the landscape of the woodland.  This page will be my photos from that walk.

The photo is looking into the woodland area that borders Dunglass Road. On the left we can see a small part of Dunglass Road appearing. in the foreground we have bracken fronds. The rest of the trees are covered in green, yellow and orange leaves.
We can just about see a path in the middle of the photo although its difficult to see with the brown fallen leaves. The trees that remain still have some brown, yellow and green leaves. On the right hand side we can see the great wood rush on the woodland floor and at the top we can see the branches of some Scots Pine trees.
Autumn woodland scene. On the left hand side we can see yellows, greens and copper coloured leaves on the trees. In the middle we can see that many of the trees have lost their leaves but there are still lots of yellow leaves just hanging on. In the distance, through the centre yellow leaves, we can see a mist of green from the branches of the Scots Pine trees.
In this image we see the transition from an area dominated by beech trees which has turned the woodland brown with fallen leaves. Immediately next to it is the more native area with the green wood rush and the occasional bracken frond. The tres in the native area have predominantly lost their leaves but we can still see the green mist at the top of the photo from the tops of the Scots Pine trees.
This is a strikingly different autumn photo compared to the others. Here we see great woodrush covering the woodland floor - so it is really green. We also see the trunks of the trees and the tops of the trees are the green of the Scots Pine. The smaller, predominantly beech and birch trees have brown and yellow leaves.
The sunshine is braking through the trees and in the mid-distance is really brightening the woodland floor. The sunshine is also catching the yellow and brown leaves on the left hand side of the picture and they look as if they are on fire the colour is so strong and vibrant. On the right hand side of the image the trees have nearly lost all their leaves and are looking very structural.
This is one of my favourite images. I really like how the sunshine is braking through the trees and in the mid-distance is really brightening the woodland floor, and catching its uneven surface. The sunshine is also catching the yellow and brown leaves and they look as if they are on fire the colour is so strong and vibrant. In the foreground we see that the trees have nearly lost all their leaves and are looking very structural.
The sunshine is catching the yellow of the leaves on the trees and is creating a really vibrant colour. On the left hand side we can see that there is now a gap where we can see the trunks of some younger trees that are leaning to the left. The sunshine is also falling onto the woodland floor and catching the brown fallen leaves.

An autumn woodland scene. There are brown leaves covering the woodland floor. Some of the trees have now lost all their leaves while others have still kept a few.

At the start of one of the hollows in the woodland. We can see the uneven nature of the land with the hollow starting but on the right we see a piece of land jutting into the hollow. The trees are covered in green and yellow leaves. The woodland floor is already covered in brown fallen leaves.
A multicolored woodland scene. This shows one of the hollows in the woods and we can see it is surrounded by trees which are showing green, yellow and brown leaves.
An autumn scene. We can see the green of the ancient evergreen trees and the yellows and browns from the deciduous trees. The woodland floor is covered in fallen leaves.
This is a woodland scene which has groundcover of fallen leaves. The trees have a variety of different colours from green to yellows and browns. In the foreground we can see that there is a hollow surrounded by trees.
An autumn woodland scene. There are brown leaves covering the woodland floor. This is taken from the highest part of the woodland and we can see glimpses of the oldest part of the woodland from there. The trees have a range of autumn colours on their leaves.
